The Last Stand

The forecast calls for wind and snow tomorrow.  I thought this might be my last chance to photograph the Oak Treehoppers by my driveway.  The cold weather and probably some built-in cycle of life span has reduced the several dozen treehoppers to just three.  Two, a mother and child (now adult) are shown here, and the third one is about a foot away.  The branch they've been occupying for two months has lost all its leaves, so it's a pretty lonely outpost in their last days.  Don't forget to click on the photo for a closer view.  Elegant insects!
