A Shy Ladybug

The California Ladybird Beetle, Coccinella californica, made an appearance near the water tank in Boyle Ravine.  This one is much shyer than most other ladybugs I've seen.  When I approached with my camera, it kept trying to hide beneath leaves.  These two represent my best shots out of more than a dozen.  I wondered if they've been subject to some bird predators recently.  The Convergent Ladybird Beetle and others I've photographed often seem oblivious to my presence and are much easier to photograph.
