Last Days for Treehoppers

These two photos of the Oak Treehoppers were taken last weekend, but throughout the week I've been seeing fewer and fewer, and on today's walk I saw none.  There are probably some remaining clusters in the occasional sunny spots or places where the sap is still running in the oaks.  But most of the oak twigs are drying out for the winter and the leaves are shriveling and falling.
At least I have these photos to remember this most colorful insect during the cold, gray days of winter.
